Ms Gerbrie Kritzinger Siegel, M.Mus.
Piano, Theory, and Ear Training Specialist, as well as Song Writing and Pre-School MusicEd Teacher

Ms Kritzinger Siegel has been playing the piano since the age of three. She obtained Grade 8 of the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music (London) in Piano, as well as Grade 8 UNISA Music Theory at the age of 16.  She studied also the Violin under the tutorship of Prof Zanta Hofmeyer and the Organ under the late Prof. Stephanus Zondagh.  She studied B.Mus. (Performing Arts – Piano and Organ) at the University of Pretoria and graduated Cum Laude. Her Piano professor was Wessel van Wyk, and Organ Professors Henk Temmingh and Wim Viljoen.  During each year of her four-year B.Mus. degree, she was invited to play for the Pretorium Trust Bursary.  Ms Kritzinger Siegel received her Performers Licentiate Qualification (Unisa – Organ) Cum Laude, and was invited to participate in the National Bursary Competition at the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town. She then completed her M.Mus. (Performing Arts – Organ, Cum Laude) at the University of Port-Elizabeth, under the mentorship of Colin Campbell.

Ever since, Ms Kritzinger Siegel has performed as Organist and Pianist, in both solo-performances, as an accompanist and also as educator. She is passionate about the development of students’ ability to be creative and expressive in music, to discover his/her own style and ways of expression, and she encourages each student to develop not only the actual playing of an instrument, but to always combine it with proper Music Theory knowledge and Aural Development – to ensure a strong foundation and balanced growth as musician.

Ms Kritzinger Siegel currently teaches Piano, Music Theory and Aural Training at Phoenix Benedict Music Academy, is a keen Songwriter, works actively as Organist and Pianist (weddings, private/corporate functions etc.), does music arrangements and session work at Music/Recording Studios, and performs as accompanist to various well-known South African artists.

Ms Kritzinger Siegel’s goal is to inspire young musicians to also communicate their heart and soul through music.
